As a Nigerian-American novelist myself who has constantly been put through the ringer of mostly white MFA programs, I can speak to the frustration that comes from white counterpart copying my work however as an adult, there is a way to go about things and as a potential role model for other people and a potential door opener for minorities it is really important that you conduct yourself in an appropriate manner regardless of if you have a really great project.
